Centre for Lung Health
The Centre for Lung Health at the Mater Hospital (CFLH) was opened to clinical services in July 2009. This new facility houses the National Pulmonary Hypertension Unit, a New Smoking Cessation Unit, an Asthma Centre, the Mater Tuberculosis Centre, a Lung Cancer Rapid Access Clinic and an innovative Rapid Access Lung Treatment Unit, which will aim to manage acute lung disease in the community thereby reducing the need for hospital admission.
This centre is unique in Ireland and is designed to provide a comfortable and informal setting where and their families can access information on available services, best medical and nursing practice, drug therapy, counseling and gain informal support.

To cultivate novel approaches to help in the early identification, prevention, diagnosis and treatment of lung disease in a compassionate and patient centric way.
Mission Statement
This Centre is committed to the prevention and treatment of respiratory disease in Ireland through increasing education, awareness and community capacity in the early identification, prevention and treatment of lung disease.
This will be achieved in particular through the provision of information and educational resources for those diagnosed with respiratory disease, their families, carers and members of the medical profession.
